Don’t Fret

Psalm 37:23-24 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

My life is based on a true story…

Hey do you spend time with God… the Lord Jesus Christ in the morning? There may not be anything special that you need to know for this day. But isn’t it also possible that He might want to share some things with you about your day before you ever get started in it?

Somehow we need to grasp that He might want to show us something about our day and prepare us for something that is coming. And one word from God gives you faith to outlast and overcome your trial or your temptations.

One morning in prayer I heard two words from the Lord.

“Don’t fret.”

Isn’t that a wonderful way to start your day?

Just as clear as could be, I understood those two words. I made up my mind after a few minutes of meditation that I would trust Him no matter what happened that day.

I am a superintendent on a road construction job. It seemed like all hell broke loose on the job that day; machinery breaking down… not enough safety equipment to do the job of closing down an intersection safely, and the State inspectors were threatening to shut the job down because of different complications.

I was the superintendent… and I couldn’t get help from anyone in authority over me in the company. I called all kinds of people and couldn’t find anyone. I think they were all in a meeting and I couldn’t get through to them.

When everyone on the job wanted answers… I just prayed and said, “God, I’m gonna sit right here and do what you said. I’m not gonna fret.”

Right after I made that decision, one name came to mind of an individual whom I would never call for advice. He was the Proverbs 18 identification of a fool. But I did call him because his name came up right after I made that comment to God… and I had no other recourse.

I got that man on the phone and with his help, every one of my problems were solved in less than five minutes. The Lord was trying to teach me to stay calm in any circumstance. God is on my side if I will only believe Him. There is no way to imagine who He might use to answer your problem. Sometimes God is really funny. God sits in the heavens and laughs at His enemies… and I’m learning to laugh with Him. He’s got me covered.
