How to Celebrate Halloween

October 31, 2014 was Halloween. We had a doctor’s appointment up in Houston with my foot doctor. While we were there we got to hear several stories from some of the people that were hurt in accidents. The doctor is a specialist at putting people back together again. As I listened to one of the stories… I recognized that the man needed prayer for his left leg. He had stated that he was still in a lot of pain. He lost his left leg below the knee. There was a lot of healing that was not happening for him and the pain was continuous.

So I asked him if we could pray for him. He said yes and right in the middle of the waiting room Vicky and I got up and I explained to him that the Bible says to lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.  So he bowed his head… I took his injured leg and my hands and begin to pray over it. Vicky joined in… praying in the Spirit. That was just a witness in front of everyone else in the office, and of course we believe that God has taken care of that man’s leg.

A few minutes later a young couple walked out of the office from seeing the doctor. She was pushing her husband in a wheel chair and she was not looking happy. She was pretty… but so downcast in her countenance. I just got out of my chair and followed behind them out the door. She just looked like she was in need of something… so I made myself available.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect… NIV

I went and talked to them before they got on the elevator. I ask her if she knew whether she was going to heaven or not. She seemed to be the main focus. Her answer was no. I asked them both if they would be willing to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. I explained to them that when they lay their head on the pillow tonight… they will know for the rest of their life that they’re going to heaven?

She said, “Of course… I’ll pray.”

So we said a salvation prayer together right quick before they got on the elevator. You could see a total change in her face. I believe the Holy Spirit saved her right then and right there when we prayed. That’s the way He saved me.

That’s the kind of work that God does on Halloween. It was a real blessing to be used in the kingdom that day. Halloween is not all about staying away from people who need Jesus. Halloween is one of the days the Lord has made and we are to rejoice and be glad in it and bring forth good things on the day. Greater is He who lives in us than he who is in the world. Celebrate Halloween and everyday by allowing the Father to do His work through you.
