How Do You See God?

Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Vicky and I went on the door to door visitations again at Sundance Apartments. Twice a week we would go out and invite the kids to come to sidewalk Sunday school and on Saturday for Power Kids Super Church.

I came across a man one day sitting on the stairs of his apartment and just looking out over the complex wondering what we were doing. As I began to talk about God to this man, he said he didn’t believe in anything he couldn’t see. I answered him, “Do you mean… like electricity.”

I left him sitting there with that. There are many things that are real that we can’t see… like electricity, gravity, oxygen, the smell of a bakery, or even a good barbecue fire going. Angels are real… radio waves are real… and most of our world works off of sound waves in the atmosphere that we cannot see. Communication around the world is made possible by things that we cannot see.

I don’t see how a polar bear doesn’t freeze at the North Pole or why a penguin egg doesn’t freeze in Antarctica. You can throw a whole bucket of water up in the air and it’s ice before it hits the ground, but a penguin can hatch an egg in that kind of environment. And scientifically… a bumblebee cannot fly. God shared His invisible qualities almost everywhere in His creation.

Whether you can see Him or not is based on what you have chosen to believe… and what you’re actually looking for.

Many people don’t believe in God… because if He is real… then they are responsible for their actions and their decisions. So they have decided He is not real and they are not responsible for anything. Don’t forget the bumble bee… God created it… but the world has determined that it is impossible for it to fly.

And God’s answer to that……….. “Exactly.”
