“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” JN 3:6
Being born of God is being born of the Spirit of God, or by the agency of the Holy Spirit…
All men are by nature sinful, therefore, none are renewed except by the Spirit of God..
If man did the work himself, he would still be carnal and impure…
Keeping the law of ordinances has this very same effect…the law stirs up SIN…
“The law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” Rom 5:20
“Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” 1 Cor 15:50
For man to even attempt to cleanse their flesh by keeping the law of commandments is nothing more than an offense to the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ who redeemed us from the curse of the law and cleansed and forgave our SIN once for all….Heb 10:10
Man cannot cleanse his flesh BY the flesh…as we are born of the Spirit, in other words, our spirit is quickened by the Holy Spirit and we become a new creation..
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Cor 5:17
“because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.”
Man is helpless and lost without the regenerating grace of Christ and without the power and Spirit of God, men are dead in sin and lack the strength or ability in and of themselves to obey the Law…
As the law of God and the carnal mind are directly opposed to one another…
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
“Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.”
Keeping the law of Moses did not free anyone from their sins, only the atoning death of Jesus completely satisfied the demands of God’s perfect law, making forgiveness of all sins available to all who believe..
“Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.”
That which is born of the Spirit is spirit: but that man or woman who is regenerated by the Spirit of grace is spiritual; he is after the Spirit…
“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Rom 8:5
So how can a man keep the law of Moses without the flesh not interfering?? He can’t…
“Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one.”
He observes the rituals of the law by his flesh which is sown in corruption..thereby making it impossible to obey the law perfectly in the flesh..
But the believer who is quickened by the Spirit is ONE spirit with God –
He is made a partaker of the Divine nature…
“But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.”
1 Cor 6:17
