All of us have heard people say:” Praise the LORD…I love you Lord…I love your truth.”

But then let them be crossed and then comes the cursing, the smutty entertainment, porn.. etc

How do you reconcile the one with the other?

You can’t..

A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways….

“Does the fountain send out from the same cistern both fresh and bitter water?
Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs?
Nor can salt water produce fresh?” JS 3:11-12

“Being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways…purify your hearts you double-minded..” JS 1:8;4:8

The term double-minded comes from the Greek word “dipsuchos”, meaning “a person with two minds or souls.”

James writes of the doubting person that he is “like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does” (James 1:6–8)..

A doubter is a double-minded person….

Jesus had in mind such a person when He spoke of the one who tries to serve two masters (Matthew 6:24)…

As such, he is “unstable,” which comes from a Greek word meaning “unsteady, wavering, in both his character and feelings..”

A double-minded person is restless and confused in his thoughts, his actions, and his behavior. Such a person is always in conflict with himself..

Those who are double-minded do not have the faith spoken of in Hebrews 11:1,3

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. .”

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”

We cannot be both “certain” and “doubting”, as is the double-minded person…

God will not grant His blessings upon those who are double-minded. As Jesus pointedly declared, “No one can serve two masters…

Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other” (Matthew 6:24).

God and the things of this world are of such opposite natures that it is impossible to love either one completely without hating the other.

Those who try to love both will become unstable in all their ways…

God is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14) and will not accept a service that is divided with Satan..

An upright man (steadfast) is like an apple with rotten specks, but a hypocrite is like an apple with a rotten “core”… :O

The hypocrite chooses sin; the upright man would have no sin if he could choose…

The upright man is the same in the dark as he is in the light…

As a man thinketh so is he…

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”

Steadfastness is an essential principle in Christian character…

There can be no success nor prosperity in the Christian life when this principle is lacking..

David in the Psalms states: ” My heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.”

This is true steadfastness. It is cleaving to God, let the storms come as they may…

It is a firm, fixed, and settled decision to abide in the doctrines of the Bible. It is to rest confidently upon the teaching and promises of the Scriptures…

The believers steadfastness will rest confidently without fear, upon the never-changing Word of God…

It is through Jesus Christ, that Christians are made partakers of the divine nature as they are reciepients of His divine character..

We, as His children, are to be led by the Spirit of God..

The Spirit of God has illuminated the Word and enlightened our mind to know what is our Christian duty….

A man can have no true steadfastness who is influenced by his emotions or impressions..

The man who is steadfast, unmovable in the Word, goes forward in the christian duties that God has laid out for him…

Steadfastness is a firm, fixed purpose of the heart to cleave to God, and embrace His truth..

It is a fixed purpose of the heart to obey implicitly the teachings of the Savior, regardless of the feelings one has…

” The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and every evil thing and the perverted mouth, I hate.” ( says the Lord) Prov 8:13

The upright man hates what God hates and loves what God loves…

Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death….

Prov 11:19
