20..“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;
21..that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22..“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;
23..I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me..” JN 17:20-23

The phrase in vs.21..” that they all may be one” simply means * may all be united as brethren*….

We, as believers, are all redeemed by the same blood, and are all going to be united with Christ in Heaven, we have the same wants, the same enemies, the same joys….

And even though we may be scattered throughout different denominations, yet we will meet at last in the same mansions of glory, and so being heirs of the ONE true God, we should feel that we belong to the same family, and are children of the same God and Father…..

20…”having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,
22…in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” Eph 2:20-22

“So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Rom 12:5

There are no ties so meaningful as those which bind us in the gospel, and there is no friendship so enduring as that which results from having the same affection of the Lord Jesus….

Believers in the New Testament, are represented as being eternally united… parts of the same body, and members of the same family….

And based on this union that we have in Christ, we are exhorted to love one another, to bear one another’s burdens, and to study the things that make for peace, and things whereby one may edify another…

“Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Eph 4:3-5 <3
