Promises of God

Genesis 12:1-4 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed… NLT

It is the devil’s purpose to keep us from the Promise. Go after the Promise. Pursue the Promise that God gave you personally… and see if God doesn’t meet you on that path.

I talked to God one day about the promises of Abraham… that God made to Abraham… and one of those promises is that Abraham would have offspring… as many as the sand on the seashore.

I ask God if that promise pertained to me.

This is the answer God gave me.

“Do you need that many children?”

I said to Him, “No sir… I don’t need that many children.”

I was laughing… but He wasn’t… and it was like I understood God to share… “I didn’t think you did either.”

Then I realized very quickly that God never made that specific promise to me. So I started thinking of the Promises that the Holy Spirit has revealed to me in my walk with God. Many of those Promises have already come to pass and many are still to come… so I thank Him for what has come and I remind Him of what He has shown me personally.

So what has God promised you? Pursue that Promise. That is where God is for you.

You see… I was taught that I am of the Seed of Abraham and that I should inherit the promises. And this is true… I have the right because of lineage… but only to the Promises that God has promised me.
